Ted Evans. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Painter. Amherst, Nova Scotia. Active since the 1990’s. (And long before that).
Ted Evans is one of the better known Canadian folk artists. He works with ‘as found’ materials when it feels right (if you leave something lying around it is likely to end up in one of his works) and he will mix media with skill and insight. His pallet is Maritime primary colors and there is always more in his art than we see at first look. Both his paintings and his carvings are full of motion and energy.
Many of his paintings and carvings are influenced by his early career in music. (See his Talking Heads sculpture below.)
