Frank Donahue

Frank Donahue. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Arden, Ontario. Active 1920’s.

Frank Donahue was a naive sculptor of painted works. Known is a shadow box of a hunting scene. He is cited in the CCFCS.

Mme Charles Dolbec

Born: Active 1930's.

Mme Charles Dolbec. Fabric artist. Rug hooker. Sainte-Anne-de-la-Parade, Quebec. Active 1930’s.

Mme Charles Dolbec was a maker of ornamental hooked rugs of landscapes. She hooked in silk and cotton and in wool. Mme Dolbec is cited in the Gauvreau book* (1941).

Willieam Devine

William Devine. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Active mid 20th century.

William Devine was a naive artist. He made relief carvings of animals and fish as well as religious themes. He was the brother of Clayton Devine.

Charles Desnoyers

Charles Desnoyers. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Quebec. Active mid to late 19th century.

Charles Desnoyers was a sculptor of painted figures. He made religious carvings as well as people. He was cited in Trudel’s book on traditional sculpture in Quebec.*

Andre Deschenes

Born: Active mid 20th century.

Andre Deschenes. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Saint-Hilarion, Quebec. Active mid 20th century.

Andre Deschenes filled his yard in Charlevoix with bird houses, models of wind mills and concrete sculptures of exotic and domestic animals. All in bright primary paints. He was first mentioned in Les Patenteux.
