Kenny Boudreau is a naive artist who carves and paints his impressions of People, Animals, Birds and even Hockey Players. An example of one of his carvings is shown below.

Jean-Claude Gagne

Born: 1944

Jean-Claude Gagne. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Price, Quebec. Active c. 2000.

Jean-Claude Gagne makes models of the boats that he watched along the Gaspe shore when was growing up. He moved to Montreal to work, returning often to the sea and the boats.    Born in Baie-des-Sables, Quebec; Jean-Claude Gagne made his first model boats in his kitchen in Verdun and in the Richelieu Valley before he retired. Then he moved to the sea and a heated workshop at Price, Quebec. His models are charming and naive and detailed. He uses ‘as found’ materials and primary colours. He signs his work.

Romeo Michauville

Romeo Michauville. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Saint-Faustin, Quebec. Active 1920’s – 1972.

Romeo Michauville made carvings of Quebec people in traditional costume and scenes.  His work was usually painted and was not often signed. He also made larger outdoor carvings for his garden and yard as well as weather vanes.

Yves Robitaille

Born: 1939

Yves Robitaille. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Saint-Francois-de-l’Ile-d’Orleans, Quebec. Active mid-20th century – .

Yves Robitaille is a bird carver. He lives on l’Ile-d’Orleans near Quebec City and displays his carvings in the Gallery at his house. He has been carving birds for some 40 years – Shorebirds, Song Birds, Humming Birds – every kind of Bird found on at or near l’Ile-d’Orleans. And also small animals, fish and occasional chicken as well. Yves Robitaille is widely collected both in museums and in private collections. In the words of M. Robitaille: ” my carving is inspired by the wild-life of l’Ile-d’Orleans”. He has developed an exceptional finish that appears soft and life-like.
