Benoit Leclerc. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Levis, Quebec. Active mid 20th century.
Benoit Leclerc was a naive sculptor. He carved people, unpainted and coloured. And he made intricate chip-carvings, often inlaid with marquetry of picture frames, clock shelves and just pretty things. His portraits (one of Napoleon) he coloured with gouache. Benoit Leclerc was first mentioned in Les Patenteux du Quebec.
