Jacques Auger

Born: 1943

Jacques Auger. Sculptor. Decoy carver. Montreal, Quebec. Active mid to late 20th century.

 Auger began carving decoys for his own personal use. He carved around 150 birds during his carving period making birds of different species including black ducks, scaup, and teal. He learned to carve from his father, Delphis Auger.

Paul Turcotte

Born: 1909  |  Died: 1987

Paul Turcotte. Verdun, Quebec. Sculptor. Decoy carver. Active mid 20th century.

Paul Turcotte (1909-1987) worked for the Canadian National railroad. He was also an avid outdoors-man spending time with his father who got him interested in decoy carving. His decoys are made in the typical Verdun style with detailed wing carving and scratch and comb decoration and are well painted.

G. Tetreault

G. Tetreault. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Quebec. Location unknown. Active mid-20th century.

Maker of flat-plane wood carvings in the Saint-Jean-Port-Joli tradition. Shown below is a signed relief carving.

E. Thayer. Painter. Quebec.  Exact location unknown. Active early 20th century.

E. Thayer was a painter of traditional Quebec scenes and people. He or she painted on panels and artist board using ‘as found’ oil colors. They are usually signed and titled. Some examples are shown below.
