jean-Claude Bradet

Born: 1937

Jean-Claude Bradet. Sculptor. Woodcarver. St.-Urbain, Charlevoix, Quebec. Active late 20th century-.

Jean-Claude Bradet began carving after he retired in 1991. He carves animals and birds and people in the traditional scenes of the 19th and early 20th century. His son Robert colors his work. He signs his carvings and occasionally puts ‘St Urbain’ on the base.

Roger Brabant

Born: 1953

Roger Brabant. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Rigaud, Quebec. Active late 20th -.

From an article about the artist in the Montreal Gazette:

Roger Brabant is a cabinet maker, a barn ‘whisperer’ and woodcarver. He makes carvings of roosters, especially and other things as well. Allways in paint and usually in the form of applied reliefs. He also has a fondness for old barns, especially ones he can dismantle and reuse in other even prettier forms. (See the Montreal Gazette article at the link below.)

Auguste Boyer. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec. Active mid-20th century.

Auguste Boyer was a decoy carver who was influenced by Willie leduc early in his career.

Sinai Boulay

Born: 1908  |  Died: 1983

Sinai Boulay. Woodcarver. Grosse-Roche, Gaspe, Quebec. Active mid-20th century.

Sinai Boulay was known for his models of the boats that were common along the Gaspe shore and his whirli-gigs. He had a road-side stand in front of his house and was first published in Les Patenteau-du-Quebec.

Martin Boudreault

Martin Boudreault. Sculptor, Painter, Woodcarver. Shipshaw, Quebec. (Lac-St-Jean). Active.

Martin Boudreault is a “touche-a-tout” (he touches every thing) so described in an article in the ‘Lapresse’ newspaper. He is an ice sculptor, a painter and a maker of totem poles.
