Adrien Leduc

Born: 1917

Adrien Leduc. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Montmorency, Quebec. Active mid 20th century.

Born in Amqui, Quebec, Adrien Leduc made monumental life sized carvings for his yard of people; from Louis Cyr the Strong Man, to a farmer and his horse pulling a load of hay. All in paint of course. He also made painted carvings of Animals and birds and the occasional whirligig. He was first mentioned in Les Patenteux du Quebec.

Alphonse Leclair

 

Alphonse Leclair. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec. Active 1930’s.

Alphonse Leclair carved religious sculptures. He worked in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec. He is cited in McKendry.

Benoit Leclerc

Born: 1915

Benoit Leclerc. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Levis, Quebec. Active mid 20th century.

Benoit Leclerc was a naive sculptor. He carved people, unpainted and coloured. And he made intricate chip-carvings, often inlaid with marquetry of picture frames, clock shelves and just pretty things. His portraits (one of Napoleon) he coloured with gouache. Benoit Leclerc was first mentioned in Les Patenteux du Quebec.

Albini Lebreux

Born: 1946

Albini Lebreux. Sculptor.  Woodcarver. Cloridorme, Gaspe, Quebec. active late 20th century- .

Albini Lebreux makes life-sized animals and people in cement as well as woodcarvings of forest animals. His cement sculptures include a life-sized Giraffe, a horse pulling a cart and a moose and deer. There is also a Creche with all of the figures. All in paint and lifelike enough to fool the eye.

Hidola lebel

Born: Active early 20th century.

Hidola Lebel. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Levis, Quebec. Active early 20th century.

Hidola Lebel was a naive sculptor of painted carvings of people and animals and also models of ships.
