G. Michaud

Born: Active mid 20th century.

G. Michaud. Woodcarver. Sculptor. St-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec. Active mid 20th century.

G. Michaud was a flat-plane woodcarver working in St-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec in the 1940’s and 1950’s. He made painted carvings of Quebec figures in traditional costume and occupations. His work was well done and he usually signed with a chisel on the base of the carving. He seems to have stopped working around 1950. I know little else about this artist at this writing. An example is shown below with the mark.
