Medard Cormier. Painter. Bertrand, New Brunswick. Active mid 20th century.

Medard Cormier was a painter of naive landscapes in oil paints.

Camille Cormier

Born: 1924  |  Died: 2003

Camille Cormier. Painter. Shediac, New Brunswick. Active 20th century.

Camille Cormier made paintings-often from old photographs-of traditional Acadian scenes and customs. He has been collected widely both privately and in Museums. He was unable to accept a scholarship to study painting in his youth and painted very casually until he retired to the Moncton area in 1978. The McCord Museum in Montreal has a number of his works in their collections. (See the link below.)

Henri-Jean Blanchard

Born: Scative late 20th century.

Henri-Jean Blanchard. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Bas-Caraquet, New Brunswick. Active late 20th century.

Henri-Jean Blanchard was the light-house keeper at Bas-Qaraquet. He began carving birds in the early 1990’s. He always signed and marked the species on the base. An example of his work is the Woodpecker shown below with the mark.

Wilfred Green

Born: Active late 2oth century.

Wilfred Green. Sculptor. Wood Carver. Grand Manan Island and Browns Flat, New Brunswick. Active late 20th century.

Wilfrid Green was decoy carver but he was best known for his ornamental bird carvings. Signed and dated on the base: W.E. Green. He lived on Grand Manan and relocated to Browns Flat, New Brunswick.
