**Pier Cloutier (Clout) – From the Saint-Jean-Port-Joli museum web-site:
Born in 1945 in Montmagny, Pier Cloutier began to manipulate the chisel at a very young age. At 16, he studied with Jean-Julien Bourgault. He was unquestionably one of Bourgault’s best students. His work “Près de l’étang” (Near the Pond) is the emblem of the museum.

***”Clout sculpted this piece for the presentation and recognition of his work at the school of Jean-Julien Bourgeault in order to receive his certificate which he obtained at the same time. That is why we can see a certificate, as well as a book on the history of art, in his
left hand. There are also several chisels in the right hand, two of which inscribes perseverance and taste of art. The free trade mentioned is also inscribed, since that is how he saw his future as a sculptor.
