Hugh Alexander. Painter. Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Active 1970- .

Hugh Alexander was a farmer in Saskatchewan. He painted naive scenes of life as a prairie farmer.

Mary Ann Adelaide

Mary Ann Adelaide. Painter. Rose Bay, Nova Scotia. Active mid 20th century.

Mary  Adelaide was a maker of naive oil paintings. She is cited in ‘Folk Art of Nova Scotia’. 1976.

Edward Adam

Born: Active 1880-1900.

Edward Adam (Adams) Painter. Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. Active 1880-1900.

Edward Adam was a naive painter of ship portraits in oil. He  painted classic views of sailing ships as well as ships in stormy weather. (One of his paintings is illustrated in the Armour book.)

Alain Vachon

Born: 1969

Alain Vachon. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Painter. Chertsy, Quebec. Active late 20th century -.

Alain Vachon uses wood, metal and any kind of ‘as found’ material to make highly inventive and imaginative sculptures of birds, animals and people. His work is at times touching and inspiring. He colours his sculptures where appropriate and signs his work. M. Vachon also paints. His paintings are full of movement and energy and are essentially finger paintings. They are done with acrylic on wood panels.

Rejean Tanguay

Born: 1956

Rejean Tanguay. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Pointe Lebel, Quebec. Active 1995- .

Rejean Tanguay works with ‘as found’ Materials -drift wood, moose and deer antlers and stone. He makes carvings and sculptures of animals of the area. He rarely uses colours, letting the wood tones and grains speak for themselves. He signs his work.
