Reynolds Aulenback

Reynolds Aulenback. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Active late 20th century.

Reynolds Aulenback carved the famous as well as people he knew, and birds and animals when the material he found represented them. He worked with ‘as found’ materials and colours especially tree branches from the woods and seashore. He used bright primary colours and always signed and often titled his work. He was a long time participator in the Lunenburg Fol Art festival and has been collected widely.

Charlie Atkinson

Born: 1904  |  Died: 1977

Charlie Atkinson. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia. Active mid 20th century.

Charlie Atkinson was a carver of birds and people and things for his yard. He made bird houses and models of buildings. He painted all of his works and was very fond of polka dots. He has been collected widely by museums and also private collectors. Several of his sculptures are in the Museum of Civilization, i Hull. (See the link below.)
