C. Arturo. Sculptor. Woodcarver. North Bay, Ontario. Active late 20th century.

C. Arturo made character carvings of people in occupations as well as birds.  His work is well painted and usually signed on the base. I have no information yet as to his dates.

Roland Boucher

Born: Active mid 20th century.

Roland Boucher. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Quebec. Active mid 20th century.

Seen: A deep relief carving of a Guardian Angel with two children. Signed ‘Roland Boucher’. Circa 1950. I have no other information as to dates and locations as yet.

Donald Carmichael

Born: Active 1920's-1930's.

Donald Carmichael. Sculptor. Model Ship builder. Renfrew, Ontario. Active 1920’s- 1930’s.

Donald Carmichael was a barber in Renfrew, Onraio. He spent much of his spare time making ship models. These were famous named sailing ships of the line. He mounted his models in highly finished Walnut and glass cases. The models were fully rigged and detailed with all cannon (and cannon balls), anchors and deck equipment. His models are in collections in Quebec, Ontario and Western Canada.

Raymond Bolduc

Born: 1925

Raymond Bolduc. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Chambord,  Quebec. Active mid  20th century.

Raymond Bolduc was an exceptional carver. He made relief carvings but he preferred carving in the round. He carved domestic and wild animals; sometimes in colour and more often simply varnished. He often titled his carvings and signed and dated them.  He gave most of his work away; much of it to museums in Quebec including La Musee de laCulture Populaire at Trois Rivieres and La Musee de la  Civilization in Quebec.

Pierre Fortin

Born: 1922  |  Died: 1996

Pierre Fortin. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Jonquiere, Quebec. Active late 20th century.

Pierre Fortin made naive painted wood carvings of animals. There is an example of his work in the Museum of populaire culture at Trois-Rivieres, Quebec.
