Mark Robichaud

Born: 1962

Mark Robichaud. Sculptor. Painter. Wood carver. Belliveau Cove, Nova Scotia. Active since the 1980’s.

Mark Robichaud’s work has always seemed to set the bar in the minds of his contemporaries. He turns tradition on it’s head and somehow re-creates it. He works in primary ‘as found’ colors, as well as materials, and he is always playing  with them, and through them, the viewer. He is unpredictable to say the least. His work has been collected on three continents. He lives and works near Belliveau Cove on Nova Scotia’s French shore.

Some Examples of his work:

Some Penguins (from a series) and Swans (another series). Both about 2 1/2 inches long and very delicately carved in the flat-plane method:

Each of the Penguins were made of six separate pieces of Pine. Except for the sitting one.
