Lucien Larose

Born: 1914  |  Died: 1973

Lucien Larose. Sculptor. Saint-Alexandre, Quebec. Active mid-20th century.

Lucien Larose was first collected by Marius Barbeau and then by Nettie Sharpe. He made painted carvings of horses. Both in harness with wagons or farm equipment and also standing alone. He carved in Pine and painted in ‘as found’ glossy oil paint. The manes and tails of his horse carvings were usually of  horse hair or tufts of wool fiber. His work is very rare and he has been collected by Museums and private collectors.
