Lucien Bourgault. Sculptor. Wood carver. Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec. Active mid 20th Century.
Lucien Bourgault was the son of Antonio Bourgault. He learned his art and worked in the studio of Andre Bourgault, his uncle, and soon made carvings under his own name. He signed in script with a pen and also with a chisel on larger works. Shown are a few early painted carvings. Lucien Bourgault was a fine and inventive sculptor with a good sense of colour. He had his own shop after 1948 (see photo below).
