Ernest Levesque

Born: 1938  |  Died: 2003

Ernest Levesque. Sculptor. Woodcarver. Pierreville, Quebec. Active Late 20th century.

To celebrate the millennium Ernest Levesque created a series of life-sized carvings of people associated with his own personal history. He made these carvings with ‘as found’ materials, notably roots and branches of trees that he gathered, assembled, carved and painted. These ‘people (“gens de son pays”) were well carved and coloured and full of humour. A number of them have been collected and are in la Musee quebecois de culture populaire de Trois-Rivieres.
