Born in Verdun, Andre Laporte lives in Saint-Pierre-de-Napierville. Andre is known for his colourful primitive woodcarvings of Hockey players – especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. His work is painted and usually, but not always, signed.
A good friend of Leo Fournier and his son Denis, Andre Laporte made a carving of Leo Fournier. It is certainly one of his most expressive and powerful carvings. It is shown below. (From the collection of the late Mark Zannis.)
