Adrienne Fortier

Adrienne Fortier. Sculptor. Woodcarver. St. Prosper, Quebec. Active mid 20th century.

Adrienne Fortier and her mother Emilie Samson filled their house and yard with painted carvings and sculptures of people, birds, and animals as well as houses, churches and religious scenes. They used a variety of media including wood, cement, putty and Plasticine. They recorded the world around them in their ‘assemblies’ and in words. They were first recorded with their work in Les Patenteux du Quebec.
